For the last five years, Octavia Gibbs has worn many hats at First Financial Security, Inc., from creating an HR role to managing FFS events from start to finish. With her attention to detail and love of people, Octavia has been a natural events manager. “I love the people I work with,” Octavia says. “I enjoy the one-on-one interaction that I am able to have with the employees and field leaders. I also like being in a position to affect positive change.”

We are pleased to announce that Octavia will now take on the position of Director of Events, effective April 2019. Her talent at paying attention to the little things has made our events run smoothly for the last five years. From jet-setting to Dream Destination locations to nailing down each gift to make every agent’s experience memorable, her position has kept her on her toes. To look at her performance, however, we would think it was always smooth sailing. Debbie Gerlicher has dubbed Octavia the “No Drama Mama” for her ability to anticipate our needs and deal effectively with problems as they arise.

This should come as no surprise, since Octavia spent four years as a program director for Salvation Army prior to joining FFS. At First Financial Security, Inc., she has embraced not only events but HR as well. She is now excited to focus solely on events, saying, “I want to be able to pour all of my time and energy into one thing and make it the best that it can be.”

We are excited to see what Octavia will bring to her position as Director of Events in the coming years.
